: Submissions for Autumn 2013 →

whatsthetimemrswoolf:

Hello hello Woolves!

It’s that time again! We’re now collecting submissions for the Autumn issue of What’s the Time, Mrs Woolf.

There’s no official theme, but if you’d like a starting point we have some that might help. As we’re now into the two darker seasons, it’s…

SEND US YOUR ‘ZINE THINGS! Drawings, writings, articles, comics, photo essays, poetry, book/film/music reviews, how-to DIY/craft/upcycling tutorials/recipes…Optional seasonal theme if you feel moved to create something autumnal or halloween-related*. If you’re a female creative with something you’d like to see in print that can fit onto a5 page/s (B&W), send it to whatsthetimemrswoolf@gmail.com by this Friday (20th September)!

Cover submissions also welcome - art for a front and back cover in a5, or landscape a4 to wrap around both.

*Feminism, women’s issues and/or a female point of view are our permanent themes! :) This can be as simple as being a female creative; responding to the world from a female perspective; or as specific as debating Lady Gaga’s mildly threatening brand of sexiness (Postmodern referencing of the monstrous feminine or meaningless gesture of contrived eccentricity manufactured from the bowels of the pop machine?) Our starting point for the What’s The Time Mrs. Woolf? ‘zine was to make a sort of un-women’s rag :)

Oh, and we have a fairy problem page! Your problems answered. By fairies. Send us your problems!

Hello hello, Woolves! I’m pleased to report we did a very brisk trade at London MCM Expo, and we’ve funded some future tables! We also sold out of the Spring 2013 issue, so we’ll be doing a second print run.

It’s also time for submissions for the Summer 2013 issue!…

Cover illustration for issue 4 of the illustrated indie feminist ‘zine What’s The Time Mrs. Woolf? . Thanks to Sarah for the photo :) The ‘zinewoolves are currently accepting submissions for issue 8 until the end of January (see this post).

This illustration is currently also on display in the Geeked About Art exhibition in the gallery on the 3rd floor of Foyles Charing Cross Road until the end of the month, alongside my work for the first issue of GEEKED!, another feminist magazine.

What’s the Time, Mrs Woolf is once again looking for submissions! The deadline for the Jan/Feb issue is provisionally set at January 31st, so you have lots of time!We don’t have a theme for this issue, but as it’s the January/February issue if you want to do something related to New Year or Valentine’s Day then that’s fine. As usual we’re looking for articles, illustrations, comics and questions for Poppet. (Especially articles! We also accept short stories, poetry and reviews.) However we’re NOT looking for a cover this month, as Meg Guindon has already volunteered one.submission guidelines are as follows:
the zine is printed A5, black and white
all files should be 300dpi, preferably jpegs or tiffs
we recommend leaving a 5mm safety margin within the A5 page
WTTMW is currently by women, for women
please email submissions to whatsthetimemrswoolf@gmail.com, or to myself or Lilywoolf directly.
P.S. Lilywoolf and I assess suitability on a case-by-case basis, but in general try to keep it PG-13 as far as violence or nudity goes.

Me and Jade Sarson at last Saturday’s Comiket! Thanks to her and Sammy, who showed up with copies of Inspired Comics’ Science Fiction Octuple Feature anthology and bookstands, and stayed the whole day helping man the table. She could have been wandering around having fun - but at Comiket having fun is a bit like being squashed by backpacks in narrow aisles. Apologies to all for spending the whole day in a kind of narcoleptic stupor.

We were also selling some of Sammy’s comics and Sarah Fogg's work, as well as the latest issue of our 'zine What’s The Time Mrs. Woolf?  (More on that later!)
